The winter of 2025 presented an exceptional and transformative opportunity: a journey to Tanzania, Africa, made possible by the unwavering support of the Ivy College of Business. My time in this vibrant country was dedicated to the empowering mission of supporting female entrepreneurs in their efforts to launch, achieve sustainable growth, and maintain thriving businesses. Whether through providing constructive feedback on their current business practices or by actively collaborating on the development of strategic business plans for their exciting startup ideas, I acquired invaluable practical skills in international communication, the strategic nuances of multi-country business, and the vital principles of fostering business expansion. This immersive experience also provided a profound and nuanced understanding of the dynamic African business ecosystem. Beyond this significant professional growth, I fully embraced the rich tapestry of local culture through its diverse and flavorful food, an awe-inspiring African safari that left me speechless, an engaging and insightful marketplace challenge, and, most importantly, by forming genuine and lasting connections with the remarkable people I encountered. I am immensely thankful to the Ivy College of Business for facilitating this incredibly impactful journey, and I sincerely hope that my experience serves as a source of inspiration for future students to actively seek out and engage in similar transformative opportunities that broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of the world.
My time in Rome through the Ivy Summer in Rome program was an absolute pleasure and an experience I'll forever cherish. Beyond the breathtaking sights, this program offered a unique opportunity to immerse myself in Italian culture while gaining invaluable academic and real-world insights.
From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by Rome's rich history and vibrant energy. Exploring iconic landmarks like the Colosseum and the Pantheon was truly awe-inspiring, but my experiences extended far beyond traditional tourism. I was incredibly fortunate to gain exclusive access to the inner workings of Italian industry and business. Touring the Pagani and Ferrari factories provided a fascinating look into precision engineering and world-class manufacturing, offering a practical understanding of supply chains and operational excellence. My visit to the CFFT logistics company further deepened my appreciation for the complexities of global distribution.
One of the most enriching aspects of my time here was the direct exposure to Italian craftsmanship and culinary traditions. Witnessing the intricate process of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese production and tasting some of the finest balsamic vinegar not only satisfied my palate but also offered a unique lens into local entrepreneurship and the importance of heritage in business.
Academically, the program was equally rewarding. I had the privilege of taking a Management course with Marc Anderson, which provided a robust framework for strategic thinking. Additionally, the Management Information Systems course with Cheng Nie offered critical insights into how technology drives modern business operations. These courses, coupled with the practical excursions, provided a holistic understanding of international business environments.
For anyone seeking to genuinely integrate themselves into Italian culture for approximately five weeks, I wholeheartedly recommend the Ivy Summer in Rome program. It's more than just a study abroad trip; it's a profound journey of learning, personal growth, and unforgettable experiences that truly allow you to live like a local and gain a global perspective.
